Libraries Update Link for Off-Campus Access to Online Resources
The Libraries have updated the link for off-campus access to our electronic resources. If you are linking to library databases, e-journals or articles subscribed to by the Libraries, you must add this text to the beginning of the link so that the link will work off campus: http://proxy.binghamton.edu/login?url=

Library Extension Now Available for Firefox 3.0
Wish you could search infoLINK from your browser bar? Would you like to check the catalog quickly for a book you found at Amazon.com? Now you can with the LibX Firefox Extension! In addition to searching infoLINK, you can use LibX for access to metaLINK and Google Scholar.

metaLINK Upgrade
metaLINK will be upgraded starting Thursday 6/12/2008 through Monday 6/16/2008. Patrons will be re-directed to our back up server until the upgrade is completed. During the upgrade period there may be brief disruptions in metaLINK availability.

Planned Computer Center Power Outage December 26-27
An emergency power generator will be installed in the Computer Center on December 26 and 27. This means that central computer and campus network resources will not be available during this time. Once installed, the generator will guard important central equipment from future power failure events.
Desktop and laboratory computers operating as stand-alone devices outside the Computer Center will not be affected. The services that will be unavailable include:
1. The entire campus wired and wireless networks.
2. Electronic mail will be down, as will email forwarding to external mail servers.
3. Blackboard.
4. All Binghamton administrative applications (Oracle HR and Finance, Banner and CICS applications).
5. Pharos print system in Pods and Information Commons.
6. Software that requires access to a license manager (Matlab, ANSYS, Fluent, Solid Edge).
7. Kronos and the Card Access System.
8. Library on-line bibliographic resources.
9. Shared network storage devices (aka "H" drive or "S" drive).
People attempting to connect to the binghamton.edu web server will be redirected to the backup server at BCC which will contain a message explaining the situation. E-mail sent to binghamton.edu mail addresses will normally be held by the sending server. Users who anticipate critical email communications during this time should warn correspondents of the outage and may want to have alternate e-mail services for this period. When our servers are once again up, there is likely to be an extraordinary amount of mail that will have to be processed. Expect some initial delays.

During the preview period (July 11 to August 10), Encore is only available on campus.

The library catalog has a new look! With the recent infoLINK upgrade, we took the opportunity to improve the search interface. Improvements include a basic search screen with a single search box, hyperlinks and copy information on the results screen, and a more streamlined recall process. Use the feedback link in infoLINK to let us know what you think!

Enhanced Access to Electronic Journals via infoLINK
22,824 records for electronic journals have been added to infoLINK, Binghamton University Libraries’ online catalog. Patrons can now access coverage information for all of the Libraries’ electronic journal subscriptions and from there easily connect to the full text of articles. For example, see the record for American Literary History. Please see our Ask a Librarian service for further assistance.

infoLINK and metaLINK Downtime 6-8 a.m., Feb. 9
Computing Services will be installing patches on the infoLINK and metalLINK servers on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 6 a.m.-8 a.m. Actual downtime for infoLINK will be less than one hour. Downtime for metaLINK will be a little over one hour.
During this time, the Libraries' website will point to our backup servers.

infoLINK Has More Book Content (Cover Art, Tables of Contents, Summaries and More)
The Binghamton University Libraries' catalog, infoLINK, now has cover art, table of contents, summaries and annotations, and first chapters for selected books. Reviews from Choice magazine are also available for many titles. To see the additional content, click on the image of the book’s cover art. (As an example, search for the book The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman.) This service is brought to you by Nylink and SUNY. The infoLINK Library Catalog now supports PODS sign in. You can use the same account to sign in for off-campus access, ILLiad, metaLINK, and infoLINK. Barcode sign in is still supported.

infoLINK MyAccount unavailable Friday 5 p.m. until Tuesday
Effective Friday, August 18, at 5 p.m. infoLINK MyAccount will be unavailable due to a software upgrade of our Library Management System. We expect the upgrade to be completed by Tuesday, August 22. ILLiad, metaLINK Sign In Unavailable
ILLiad is temporarily unavailable, as is the metaLINK sign in. metaLINK is still accessible both on and off campus, but without personal sign-in features. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to restore access as soon as possible.
Update: ILLiad is now available as of 6:00 p.m. We are still working on the metaLINK sign in problem.
Update: metaLINK sign in is now available as of 5/4.

New Personalization Features in metaLINK
You can now access “My Account” by signing into metaLINK with your PODS username and password. “My Account” enables you to personalize your environment by creating your own database lists, saving records that you find interesting for future reference and setting up email alerts for searches. metaLINK Changes to be Made this Week
Soon you will be able to save articles and favorite databases when you use metaLINK. You will have the option of logging in to metaLINK with your PODS account information in order to set display preferences, save articles to an "eShelf," and create lists of databases to search simultaneously.
We expect no downtime for metaLINK while these features are being added, but, as always, please contact us if you encounter any problems.

Off-Campus Access Unavailable
Due to a hardware failure of the campus mail server, most library resources are not accessible off campus. Once the mail server is repaired, off-campus access will become available again. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.

Important Changes to Library Logins Coming Soon
Update: Library Logins will change to PODS accounts on Monday, January 16.
Logging in at the Libraries will get easier next semester. In order to simplify login procedures, the Libraries will start using PODS accounts for ILLiad, off-campus access, and metaLINK. All Binghamton faculty, staff, and students have a PODS account. For uninterrupted service, please be sure to obtain your PODS account information before the start of the Spring 2006 semester if you do not already know it.
How to Get Your PODS Information
If you don't know your PODS username and/or password, you can log in to BUSI and go to "E-Mail & User IDs" or contact the Computing Services Help Desk (777-6420).
